Through our Working for Carers membership, Worcestershire Association of Carers recently submitted an application to be recognised as a Working For Carers Outstanding Employer. In January 2019 our application was   successfully assessed and we are really pleased to be the first employer in Worcestershire to achieve this award.  This initiative recognises those organisations who are making a meaningful difference to carers in the workplace by ensuring working carers are recognised, valued and supported at work.  To find out more about this accreditation scheme for employers go to : https://workingforcarers.co.uk/employers/#membership-and-accreditation

What is working for carers?

Nearly 1 in 8 workers is a carer and close to 70% of carers have quit work or reduced their hours due to the stress of juggling work with care.

Changing demographics and an aging population mean that 3 in 5 of us will end up looking after a loved one at some point in our lives.

Supporting the carers in your workforce isnt just good for your employees; its good for business. Research shows that supporting staff to effectively juggle their home and work life, and continue in employment, holds valuable benefits for the business, including:

  • Staff retention
  • Reduced absence
  • Increased productivity
  • Improved morale

Working for Carers is a membership and accreditation scheme for employers.
