Pottery Hand-Building Workshop with Clodagh Crafts

In partnership with the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Wellbeing and Recovery College who are kindly funding this event for Carers, we are delighted to be running this session where we will be discovering the joy of working with clay at this lovely, therapeutic and mindful pottery workshop with Clodagh Crafts. Please note there are no potters wheels at this workshop, this is a hand-modelling clay workshop. Clodagh is a wonderful, experienced tutor who will guide you through this workshop, enabling you to create a wonderful pottery item. It is suitable for beginners or for those who have previously worked with clay. All materials will be provided, you will simply need to bring your own apron and your own lunch to enjoy in the half hour lunch break. Tea and Coffee will be provided.

Clodagh has said the following about this workshop:

“A three-hour session for you to try your hand at hand-building with clay and a little bit of glazing. During the sessions I can teach you a few different making technique, including coiling, slab building and pinch pots. I will also show you how to glaze your work. On past workshops, people have made mugs, hanging decorations, butterdishes, candle holders, sculptures, jewellery, platters and more. You can bring along some images for ideas to make (on your phone or on paper). Also, I will have a folder of ideas for you to look at and can provide you with suggestions if you don’t have time to pre-plan. The session is designed for all abilities and all levels of creativity – you don’t have to be ‘good at art’ to join in. The emphasis is on the enjoyment of working with clay. Wear old clothes to the sessions. You may get dusty but clay comes off easily in the wash. An apron might also be a good idea, although not essential. After the session, I will fire your work and then organise for collection. The session will be run at The Artery Studios, a multi-use art space housed within 2 stunning repurposed railway arches in Worcester’s City Centre, just beside The Hive Library.”

This event is open to unpaid Carers only.
