  • Why support us

Why support us

We know that half of us will become unpaid carers in our lifetime, which means that either you are now, or you know someone who may need support. That’s why Worcestershire Association of Carers was formed.  We are here to support the carers of the county, whatever they have to cope with in their caring role.

We know that due to the pressure of the caring role:

  • 41% of carers have experienced physical injury or their health and emotional wellbeing has suffered

  • 84% say they feel stressed

  • 78% say they feel anxious

  • 55% have suffered from depression

  • 48% are struggle to make ends meet

  • 80% feel lonely or isolated

There are more 63,000 carers in Worcestershire. We support around 11,000, leaving 52,000 carers to find!

WAC offer much needed information, advice, support, training, telephone befriending services and carers groups. We are also at the forefront of ensuring that the voice of the carer is heard so that they influence the services that are provided.

As a charity we rely  on the kindness and support of the community, whether that is through individual giving, through local businesses, grants from charitable trusts, contracts secured from the statutory sector or generous donations. We are grateful for every single penny raised for Worcestershire's carers.

What does it cost?

£240 will train a volunteer for the End of Life or Talktime, telephone befriending services

£120 will help us support an isolated Carer with a befriending service for one year

£30 will pay for a “Caring with Confidence” session for a carer looking after someone nearing their end of life or information and advice for a new carer.

Carers talk about the importance of our support services

“ WAC has given me confidence to lead my life and not feel guilty to do so.”

"Being able to talk to someone else about the problems you are having makes you feel less isolated"

" I have had a lot more strength to cope due to the support I have had"
