We are thrilled to be able to share a message about Carers Week from Matthew McKenzie FRSA:

'As of this post, it is Carers week 2023.  I have been caring for many years and have used my experience to raise awareness of caring through poetry and my other books.

As a young carer for brothers who have learning difficulties and then caring for my mother.  It can be so easy to fall into the caring role and just cope without support.  This is why the theme of Carers Week is "Recognising and supporting carers in the community".

I am grateful for Worcestershire Association of Carers doing all they can to help unpaid carers.  It is important to remind people if they are providing care then they should be identified and given access to support.  We all have a part to play and anyone can become a carer at any moment.

Poem Number 56 - Resilience from the book "Experience of mental health caring"

As a leaf we grow resilient
Ever stronger we grow as we develop
Keep moving and growing
Flowing with the wind

We tumble down, but never give up
Keep climbing unwavering up and up
Never stop and keep that resilience.
