Carers Week Highlights

We had a very busy, but very successful Carers Week 2018. Worcestershire Association of Carers were out in the community promoting the services we offer carers, as well as try to find the 52,000 carers we are still missing – but know are out there. Throughout the week we also had our wonderful staff at different hospitals and GP surgeries around the county to spread awareness for carers and the crucial role they play. Staff at the hospitals and GP surgeries pledged their support to help carers in Worcestershire.

We kicked off the week with the 6th NHS event and our first ever WAC Fashion show, which was put together by our wonderful volunteers at the Droitwich shop and raised over £450 for us!

Thanks to the generous support of Sanctuary we were able to hold a Carers’ Breakfast in Worcester at Wayland’s Yard. It was a great morning to meet carers and give them a chance to chat to each other. We will be holding the next Carers’ Breakfast in Worcester at Bill’s Restaurant on 12th September, so be sure to register – you don’t want to miss it!

In the middle of the week we treated carers to a pamper day at Barchester Care Home.  Carers were offered Indian head massages, back and hand massages, and manicures.  Carers were also able to enjoy lunch, teas and coffees. This event was also possible thanks to the generous support of Sanctuary, and the excellent staff at Latimer Court.

We wrapped up Carers Week with a bucket collection and information stand at Webbs Garden Centre. It was a great day to raise awareness and connect with carers in the community, as well as find more carers! We would like to thank all of our incredible WAC Staff, volunteers, and supporters; we could not have made this all happen without YOU!  We are already looking forward to next year!
