Web Accessibility

This website is run by Worcestershire Association of Carers. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it, and we’re committed to ensuring it’s accessible for all. We regularly review and update the site to improve accessibility and usability for everyone.

We’ve designed the site to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 at Level AA, and we’re working towards compliance with version 2.2.

Accessibility features on our website

On our website, you should be able to:

  • Use screen readers and keyboard navigation to access content

  • Zoom in on pages by up to 200% without text spilling off the screen

  • See clear text alternatives for important images and non-text content

  • Navigate using properly structured headings, links, and lists

  • Access captions and transcripts for newer videos

  • Understand the information we share, with content written in plain English

  • Move through the site in a predictable, user-friendly way

  • See feedback if something goes wrong when using forms or interactive elements

  • Use most modern browsers and devices to access the site

 

We don’t use accessibility overlays or plug-ins, as they can sometimes create more barriers than they remove. Instead, we’re focusing on building a site that’s genuinely accessible from the ground up.

 

How accessible is this website?

We know some parts of the site are not yet fully accessible. We're actively working to improve these areas:

  • Some PDF and Word documents may not be fully accessible

  • Some images and older videos don’t yet have alternative text or full captions

  • A small number of links do not clearly describe their purpose

  • Some form elements may not meet colour contrast requirements

  • A few interactive elements may not be fully operable by keyboard only

Worcestershire Association of Carers is committed to making this website accessible, in line with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed above.

 

PDFs and documents

Where possible, we aim to provide content in an accessible HTML format. Some downloadable documents remain in PDF or Word format due to operational needs. We’re reviewing and replacing these with accessible alternatives where we can.

 

Live video

We use platforms like YouTube to host our videos. While automated captions are available for live videos, they may not always be fully accurate.

We review the website regularly using automated scanning tools and internal checks. Where needed, we also carry out manual testing and seek feedback from users with different access needs.
