What is Mental Health First Aid?

It is exactly what it suggests, a first aid approach to mental health. It does not teach people to be therapists. However, it does teach people how to recognise the symptoms of mental health problems, how to provide initial help and how to guide a person towards appropriate professional help.

The course also supports people who care to focus on their own wellbeing.

Delivered over 2 days people need to attend both days

The 4 modules focus on giving an awareness of mental illness together with offering everyone the opportunity to consider their own mental health.

What people who have attended the course have said:

“I would recommend this Course to anyone who has to live or work with someone with a mental health problem. It has certainly given me the confidence to cope in the most extreme circumstances, as well as on a day to day level.”

“As a carer I wanted to understand the illness so I could improve the support I give.  Also as a carer with stresses I wanted to ensure my mental health and maintain a positive outlook”
