Worcestershire’s All Age Carers Strategy – ‘Carers at the Heart Of Worcestershire’s Families and Communities’ was published in 2015 and now needs to be updated and revised.  We need your help to do this.  It is vital that both the strategy and the annual strategy action plan (to implement the strategy) reflect the views of carers and reflect what would best support you in your caring role.

Key organisations that support carers such Worcestershire County Council, Worcestershire Children’s First, NHS partners and the voluntary and community sector are also working together to revise the strategy

A short survey will shortly be launched on the outcomes carers would like to see included in the strategy.  These outcomes were co-produced with carers when the last survey was produced and are statements that carers in Worcestershire should be able to make (even if they don’t feel that way now and need support to achieve them).

  • I feel recognised and valued – for example, I want to feel recognised and respected in my role as a carer; I am able to care safely; the caring I do is appropriate to my age and capabilities; I understand how to access support etc.
  • I have a I have a life of my own - I am able to balance my caring role and my personal life; I know how to maximise my income and meet my basic needs and not be in financial hardship due to my caring role; I am able to remain in or return to employment if I wish to.
  • I feel physically and mentally well  - I can maintain my physical health and wellbeing; I am able to manage my stress; I am able to maintain relationships that are important to me etc.

We would like to know whether these outcomes are still appropriate in the ‘post Covid’ world. Come along to our Carers Strategy session and give your views and ideas on the outcomes, current service and any gaps in what’s currently available.
