Update: 15th April 2021

Anyone in Worcestershire already identified as a carer in their GP records, or in receipt of Carer's Allowance, or those already known to be carers have been invited for a vaccination. All carers currently on Worcestershire Association of Carers register have been contacted by the Worcestershire County Council offering a priority booking for a Covid vaccination.

However, with an estimated 63,000+ carers in Worcestershire, there are still many people at risk of missing out because their carer status is unknown to services.

Eligible carers are those in recipt of carer’s allowance, or are the sole or primary carer of an elderly, disabled or other person who is at increased risk of Covid mortality and therefore clinically vulnerable.

Those clinically vulnerable to Covid include:

- Children with severe neuro-disabilities

- Those who are designated Clinically Extremely vulnerable (CEV)

- Adults who have underlying health conditions

- Those who need care because of advanced age.

If you are a carer and not had your first vaccination yet, please contact your GP surgery to register as a carer and arrange an appointment.

You will need to have two doses of the Covid vaccine to give you the best protection. The second vaccine is given 12 weeks after the first.

There is a chance you might still get or spread coronavirus even if you have the vaccine, so this means it is important to continue following government guidance regarding social distancing and wearing a face covering.
