Carers Breakfast: Bills, Worcester

With thanks to Sanctuary Group's very generous grant we were able to hold another carers breakfast last month at Bills in Worcester. Breakfast events to support  carers are proving very popular and we have been fortunate with funding to be able to hold 5 in the last year with 2 more already planned for the future.

One carer who attended the breakfast event at Bills said:

“It’s an opportunity to switch off for a couple of hours and meet new people who have all got the same connection - caring for people. You don’t realise how beneficial these events are until you start going.”

Another added:

“I sometimes think I’m on my own but these events make me realise that’s not the case.”

Funding for the most recent breakfasts has come through a community investment grant from Worcester employer Sanctuary, which is helping to run some additional wellbeing events for carers in Worcester this year. Marie-Claire Wattison, Sanctuary’s head of community investment who was able to attend our most recent breakfast and talk to carers, said: “By spending time with people who devote their lives to caring for others and learning about their experiences, it is clear that events like these are hugely beneficial.

“It is estimated that one in eight people in work are also carers and as one of the largest employers in Worcester we recognise the importance of giving people the opportunity to simply meet, talk and relax.”

Carole Cumino, CEO of Worcestershire Association of Carers, commented: “It has been great to see so many people smiling, laughing and just being themselves in the company of other carers.

“Not only are we looking forward to future breakfast events but also all the other activities people are able to get involved in.”

Our next breakfast will be at Cosy Club in Worcester on November 28th and will be our 'Very Merry Carers Breakfast' : To book please click HERE
